Event details

Co-hosted by DTU Wind and Energy Systems and Vind AI

Lecturers:
Bjarke Tobias Olsen: Researcher, DTU Wind, PhD Wind Energy
Jan-Tore Horn: CTO Vind AI, PhD Offshore Wind

WAsP is a widely used model for wind resource assessment and micrositing, developed by DTU Wind. It has formed the foundation for site analysis in the wind industry for decades. In this webinar, DTU and Vind AI come together to explain the principles behind WAsP and demonstrate how it is now integrated into the Vind AI platform via its Python API, PyWAsP.

The session is intended for wind analysts, engineers, and developers who want to deepen their understanding of WAsP and learn how to access WAsP-derived resource grids through Vind AI’s collaborative design environment.

Agenda:
  • Introduction to WAsP - theory and practice.
A technical introduction from DTU Wind, explaining the underlying flow models, terrain and roughness handling, and its role in wind climate estimation and energy yield prediction.
  • How can WAsP be used in Vind AI?
A practical demonstration of how WAsP can be run directly within Vind AI, including how users can run calculations, compare scenarios, and combine the results with other design and layout tools.
  • Q&A: Questions from the audience.

Note: If you’re unable to attend the webinar live, we encourage you to register anyway, you’ll receive access to watch it on demand at your convenience
